Hermanze Edward Fauntleroy, Jr.

Hermanze Edward Fauntleroy, Jr., a 1949 graduate of Peabody High School. Mr. Fauntleroy resigned his teaching position at Peabody High School to enter politics and become a City Councilman. His leadership was the beginning of a unique political career which served as a springboard for his appointment as the first Black Mayor in the city of Petersburg. Photo submitted by Iris S. Brown.
